上海叔同深渊科学技术发展基金会

上海叔同深渊科学技术发展基金会（简称“深渊基金会”）成立于2014年12月，注册原始资金为人民币200万元，是经上海市民政局正式批准注册的非公募基金会。英文译名为“Shanghai Shutong Hadal Science and Technology Development Foundation”。

深渊科学和技术是海洋科学和技术领域的双前沿，其研究和探索对地球生态、气候、海洋环境保护、地球生命起源、地震预报等多个领域的研究均有十分重要的作用，对我国的海洋强国建设也有重要的支撑作用。深渊科学是一门专门研究深度从6500米至11000米的海洋学科。6500米深度是海洋的一条分界线，无论是生物特征、生态环境，还是地质地貌，6500米以下的深渊海沟与人类熟悉的广阔流动海洋截然不同。

鉴于深渊科学与技术对我国甚至全人类的重要意义，原“蛟龙”号总体与集成项目负责人和第一副总设计师崔维成教授，在上海海洋大学领导的大力支持下，创立了我国首个深渊科学技术研究中心，研发11000米载人潜水器和相关设备。为了使深渊团队的科研人员能够专心致志于技术攻关，故发起成立了深渊基金会。

深渊基金会的宗旨是“助力深渊科技，保护海洋环境”，旨在通过基金会搭建的公益平台，资助、奖励深渊科学技术研究及其它相关领域的个人、团队和项目，将深渊科学和技术领域的最新进展传递到社会各个阶层，提升广大人民群众的科学素养，促进海洋生态保护和人类可持续性发展。


About us

Shanghai Shutong Hadal Science and Technology Development Foundation (or Hadal Foundation) was created on December 5, 2014, to fund and give rewards to junior hadal scientists and engineers in higher education and research institutions across China.

The founding capital for the Hadal Foundation was provided by Professor Weicheng Cui, one of China’s leaders in deep ocean science and engineering originally from Jiaolong Development Team of China achieving 7,000 meters historic dive.

The funds allocated by the Hadal Foundation are generated from the donations of individuals, enterprises and organizations. To support Hadal Foundation’s development, Professor Weicheng Cui monthly donates his earnings from Shanghai Ocean University to the foundation. However, the sum is limited compared to our fund expenditure. Until now, Hadal Foundation funds 12 young scientists and engineers to ensure the progress of hadal science research.

Strong emphasis of Hadal Foundation is to facilitate research on the hadal trenches (depths greater than 6000 meters ) and the creatures that inhabit them. The environmental extremes allows hadal zone to be highly related with sustainability and conservation issues while this area is far less understood than the outer space. To move forward, Hadal Foundation urgently need more support and fund.
