Orbis is a nonprofit, organization that prevents and treats blindness through hands-on training, public health education, improved access to quality eye care, advocacy and partnerships with local health care organizations. By building long-term capabilities, Orbis helps its partner institutions take action to reach a state where they can provide, on their own, quality eye care services that are affordable, accessible, and sustainable. 奥比斯肩负全球防盲救盲的使命，在医疗资源贫乏的发展中国家，传授眼科医疗技术、推广护眼教育，让医疗伙伴能全力预防及治疗眼疾。同时，奥比斯亦协助发展中国家制订长远的救盲计划，提供医疗设备和技术，培训眼科医护人员，防治不必要的失明问题，以提升地区医疗伙伴的技术和管理水平，令他们能够自行营运，为当地居民提供可负担、方便及持续的优质眼科服务。
