The UNAIDS Country Office (UCO) provides high level policy, strategic guidance and technical support to the national HIV response with the aim of scaling up towards universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. The UCO plays a high level policy driven role, providing intellectual and strategic leadership on HIV, promoting and advocating for sustained high level engagement of government and civil society. In addition, the UCO facilitates the leveraging of development partners’ resources, as well as other HIV relating funding mechanism. As a convener of the Joint UN HIV Team, the UCO ensures strategic relevance, coherence, simplification and harmonization of the Joint UN HIV Support Plan to the National Strategic Plan and monitor its implementation.
